The Premier League: Welcome To The Weekend

Earlier this year, I had the privilege of appearing on the Premier League's Welcome to the Weekend show, where I shared my creative journey and performed my poem Black is Beautiful.

The segment began with an interview, where I reflected on my path as a writer and poet, exploring how my experiences as a former footballer and storyteller have shaped my work. I also discussed my contributions to Are We Allowed To Just Dream?—a moving anthology by LadderBoyz and David Adekoya that champions the impact of Black footballers through their own creativity and resilience .

Following the interview, I performed Black is Beautiful, a piece that pays homage to the pride, strength, and cultural heritage of the Black experience through the lens of football and identity. It was a moment of vulnerability and celebration, blending art and sport to inspire and connect audiences.
